Mental illnesses are health conditions involving changes in emotion, thinking or behavior (or a combination of these). Mental illnesses can be associated with distress and/or problems functioning in social, work or family activities. Mental illness is nothing to be ashamed of. It is a medical problem, just like heart disease or diabetes. The most common mental illnesses are anxiety and depression.
Another common mental illness is post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). PTSD is a psychiatric disorder that occurs in individuals who have experienced or witnessed a traumatic event, series of events or set of circumstances followed by mental, physical, social, and/or spiritually distress. Examples of traumas include natural disasters, serious accidents, terrorist acts, war/combat, rape/sexual assault, historical trauma, intimate partner violence and bullying,
